Position Title: GIS Analyst II

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description

The GIS Analyst II will coordinate all aspects of GIS activities, including gathering, creating, converting and analyzing spatial data using GIS programs and related software applications to support ongoing projects. To coordinate the efforts of all other departments to ensure that necessary information, drawings, and databases are integrated with the GIS system; and to customize user interfaces by programming application software that is compatible with the GIS system.


Essential Functions

Lead GIS efforts associated with engineering FEED and detailed design efforts for midstream capital projects including but not limited to location mapping, route mapping, alignment sheet generation, crossing list generation, and impact analysis calculations

Perform advanced GIS analysis and spatial database management as it pertains to the day-to-day operation of the GIS and associated applications.

Provide input to the design and management of GIS databases, tools, and applications.

Integrate existing data from a variety of internal and external sources into the GIS database.

Develop and implement specific GIS tools to assist end users with daily mapping and analysis as needed.

Perform spatial data analysis, attribution, management

Develop and utilize quality control procedures to ensure data accuracy

Design, write, and maintain GIS workflow documentation

Search for and mines data from disparate external sources

Create presentation quality maps and completes complex geospatial analysis to support the midstream business.

Create and present in-house training material.

Mentor less experienced staff and foster a team environment

Requirements

Qualifications

7+ years of progressive experience in GIS with the last 5 years as a GIS Analyst or similar role.

Must have 5 years of previous experience using ArcGIS 10.0 or higher required.

In-depth knowledge of the pipeline industry is required

Advanced level of knowledge and experience with ESRI Desktop products and other GIS/CAD & graphics drawing applications is required

Knowledge advanced cartographic principles required

Alignment Sheet Generation experience required

FERC Experience is preferred

PODS and/or APDM experience preferred

Experience with Class Location and HCA Analysis a plus

Familiarity with GIS automation techniques using Python scripting, ArcObjects programing, model builder and/or VBA/VBscript

Familiarity with ArcGIS server, SQL Server, Oracle is desirable

GISP and/or Esri Certification is desirable

Must be proficient with MS Office products Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word


Education

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
