Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Electrical Engineer will perform duties of a lead engineer on projects and will manage multiple projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design of the building's electrical systems, such as lighting, power, and specialty systems, and prepare electrical construction documents.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Lead the design of power distribution, medium voltage and below.
  • Work with 115 kV and higher.
  • Manage the creation and completion of accurate construction documents.
  • Prepare working construction document drawings, material listings, and specifications.
  • Review code requirements (i.e., compliance with NEC and energy codes).
  • Perform routine design tasks and work on varying portions of projects.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to hold design within the established budget.
  • Use design software proficiently and can incorporate designs into project documents.
  • Research and apply building code, energy, regulatory, and industry code requirements.
  • Conduct field audits, survey existing conditions, and record information about building components, including lighting, switchgear, motors, and other electrical equipment.
  • Candidate must be willing to collaborate with multi-disciplined teams and be able to effectively work across multiple offices.
  • Work directly with clients on presenting design work.
  • Comply with Company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Lead designers and less experienced engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
  • This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university or similar is required.
  • 5+ years of experience is required.
  • Proficient in code requirements (compliance with NEC and energy codes).
  • PE
  • Experience working as a Lead Electrical Engineer is required.
  • Attention to details.
  • Must be familiar with NEC, Fire Alarm, Power Design, low and medium voltage, and lighting design.
  • Experienced with working with other engineering disciplines.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, specialized design software).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
