Join FitCity Spanish Fork as A Head Lifeguard!Are you a highly skilled and experienced lifeguard ready to take on a leadership role and ensure the safety of our community's aquatic enthusiasts? Spanish Fork City is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Head Lifeguard to oversee the daily operations and emergency response in the pool areas of our FitCity Center.This is more than just a lifeguarding position; it's an exceptional opportunity to lead by example, mentor fellow lifeguards, and act as a primary responder in any emergency situation within our recreation facility. You'll play a critical role in preventing drownings and other injuries, directly contributing to a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for all our patrons and staff. About the Position: As our Head Lifeguard, you'll operate under the general guidance of the Aquatics Supervisor, ensuring the highest standards of safety and care. Your key responsibilities will include:Safety & Emergency ResponseEnsuring life safety for all patrons within the aquatic area.Supervising first aid and emergency care, providing immediate and effective care when needed.Serving as a primary first responder to prevent drowning and other injuries inside the recreation facility.Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies.Completing safety checks, continuously monitoring assigned areas, and actively eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.Supervision & OperationsTaking the lead in any emergency situation, demonstrating calm and decisive action.Being responsible for the supervision of aquatics facilities and staff during your scheduled shift. (4:30am - 9:15am, 9:00am - 2:00pm, 1:45pm - 6:30pm, & 6:15pm - 10:30pm) Monitoring and enforcing all safety rules, policies, and procedures with professionalism.Ensuring all lifeguards are in their proper positions and that the pools are adequately covered, managing lifeguard rotations efficiently.Regularly completing and potentially taking the lead on in-service training for your team.Assisting in the cleaning of aquatic facilities and potentially assisting with the checking and balancing of pool chemicals.Customer Service & CommunicationResolving customer concerns, troubleshooting, and resolving problems promptly.Enforcing rules and regulations in a firm yet courteous manner to ensure a safe, high-quality, and pleasant recreation environment for all patrons.Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other lifeguards, staff, members, and guests. What You'll Bring:Experience: Must be at least 17 years old with a minimum of 6 months of lifeguarding experience.Certifications: Must possess and maintain the following American Red Cross Certifications:Water Safety Instructor (WSI)Lifeguard Training (LGT)CPR for the Professional RescuerEssential Skills:The ability to make sound and reasonable choices in difficult situations.The capacity to react calmly to stressful situations and help resolve conflicts that may arise.Excellent communication skills across all age groups, including the ability to handle complaints effectively and enforce pool regulations firmly while maintaining strong public relations.The ability to lead and manage peers and other employees.Language: Must be proficient in English. Physical Demands & Additional Requirements:Physical Demands: You must be able to perform the physical demands of the job, including swimming, diving, bending, pulling, and lifting up to 80 pounds.Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position, including working some early mornings, late night, weekends, and holidays.Must abide by all city policies and procedures.
