Job description

            Full-Time Head Athletic Trainer

The Head Athletic Trainer will maintain and coordinate a comprehensive sports medicine program for Spalding University athletics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform professional and administrative services essential for the success of the program.

Duties will include:

  • Injury prevention, emergency care, first aid and physical rehabilitation of injuries incurred by Spalding University's intercollegiate athletes.
  • Will organize and conduct medically prescribed sports rehabilitation and conditioning programs following an injury and be responsible for appropriate organization and implementation of athletic insurance claim paperwork and follow-up as necessary.
  • Supervise, and participate in the teaching of graduate athletic training students enrolled in an innovative, new entry-level Master of Science Degree Program in Athletic Training.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky.
  • A master’s degree and previous collegiate athletic training experience is required.
  •  Must have excellent written and verbal communication, multitasking, and budget management skills in addition to knowledge of the NCAA.

  • The ability to effectively communicate with and solve problems for diverse groups, including prospective or current students, fellow counselors and support staff, alumni, and other constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an environment characterized by large workloads, deadline pressures and high-performance standards.
