Job description

Power and Electrical Systems Engineer (Spacecraft / Flight Systems) We are looking for a Power and Electrical Systems Engineer (Spacecraft / Flight Systems) to join our team supporting advanced spaceflight programs. The Power and Electrical Systems Engineer supports the end-to-end development, analysis, integration, and verification of power generation, energy storage, distribution, and electrical interconnect systems for spaceflight applications. This role encompasses critical electrical subsystems including spaceflight battery design and safety, power electronics, power distribution, and flight-qualified wire harnesses and cabling. The engineer will work across the spacecraft lifecycle, from concept and requirements development through design, analysis, qualification, integration, test, and flight operations. The role also includes reviewing engineering analyses and technical data, evaluating test results, identifying technical risks, and developing recommendations to support sound engineering and mission decisions. Key Responsibilities * Analyze spacecraft Electrical Power Subsystems (EPS), including solar array interfaces, maximum power point tracking (MPPT), power conditioning, and regulated/unregulated distribution buses. * Analyze cell-balancing circuits, overcurrent/under-voltage protection, and fault containment strategies adhering to applicable spaceflight safety standards, including thermal runaway containment. * Review and analyze flight wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect architectures for inter-subsystem power and high-speed data transmission. * Ensure system compliance with electromagnetic compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI) requirements, grounding architectures, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention. * Evaluate and correlate analytical models, simulation results, and empirical test data to assess system and hardware performance. * Review and independently assess spacecraft power and electrical system designs, analyses, test results, and technical documentation to evaluate performance, compliance, and technical risk. * Develop, review, and assess system and subsystem requirements, verification methods, and verification evidence for power and electrical systems. * Support qualification, acceptance, integration, and functional testing of flight electrical and power hardware, including evaluation of test approaches and results. * Participate in electrical system anomaly and failure investigations, including root-cause analysis, contributing-cause assessment, and evaluation of corrective actions. * Evaluate electrical hardware performance across expected operational and non-operational environments and support determination of appropriate qualification and acceptance approaches. * Collaborate across spacecraft disciplines to evaluate electrical interfaces and interactions with avionics, thermal, propulsion, structures, flight software, guidance, navigation and control, and other spacecraft systems. * Communicate technical findings, risks, uncertainties, and recommendations through technical reviews, written assessments, and presentations to engineering and program leadership. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. * 2+ years of experience in electrical power systems, battery engineering, electrical integration, harness/interconnect design, or related aerospace electrical engineering. * Experience with spacecraft or flight hardware development, integration, test, qualification, or operations is highly desired. Software & Technical Toolset * Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or Mentor Graphics / Siemens Xpedition. * Experience with harness and mechanical CAD integration tools such as Siemens Capital, Zuken E3.series, SolidWorks Electrical / Routing, Autodesk Inventor Cable & Harness, or CATIA Electrical Harness Design. * Experience with circuit modeling and simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or Simscape Electrical. * Experience with electrical system modeling, circuit simulation, schematic capture, harness design, or related engineering tools. Preferred Qualifications * Experience supporting flight hardware from concept through launch and on-orbit operations. * Experience evaluating engineering designs, analyses, verification results, and test data for complex spacecraft electrical systems. * Experience working across multiple spacecraft engineering disciplines and evaluating system-level electrical interfaces and interactions. * Experience with technical reviews, anomaly investigations, qualification testing, or flight hardware acceptance. * Experience with spacecraft electrical power systems, flight batteries, power electronics, electrical grounding, EMI/EMC, or instrumentation and telemetry systems.
