Job description

ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE
Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company that enables our world to launch, land, and operate in space - anywhere, anytime. As the partner of choice for critical space missions, Firefly is the only commercial company to launch a satellite to orbit with 24-hour notice and the only company to achieve a successful Moon landing. Our launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles provide government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.
SUMMARY

Leads power generation, storage, distribution, and regulation while performing radiation analysis, requirements engineering, and environmental qualification to support all mission phases. Previous spacecraft experience preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own EPS architecture, power budget development, allocation, and margin management across all mission phases
  • Perform power system analyses including radiation effects, trade studies, sensitivity, and worst-case analyses
  • Develop, flow down, and verify power system requirements and cross-subsystem interfaces
  • Lead verification, qualification, and acceptance test plans including HIL and GEVS-compliant environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, dynamics)
  • Support vehicle AIT, launch integration, and on-orbit operations
  • Identify tasks, resources, and schedules to meet power system objectives
  • Mentor junior engineers on power architecture and systems engineering practices

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years in aerospace systems development, testing, integration, or operations
  • 5+ years in spacecraft power systems engineering and power budget management
  • Experience in systems requirements development, verification, and power analyses (including radiation effects)
  • Hands-on experience with power system testing and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with Python for modeling, analysis, or automation
  • Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving and communication skills

Desired
  • Direct experience with spacecraft EPS (solar arrays, batteries, PCDU) from concept through on-orbit operations
  • Familiarity with NASA GEVS or SMC-S-016 environmental testing standards
  • Experience with FMEA, Fault Tree, or root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of spacecraft grounding, bonding, and EMI/EMC at the system level
  • V-model methodology or project management experience
