Job description

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located in Las Cruces, NM at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in the Propulsion Department.

Position involves working in the Propulsion Department (Propulsion Test group) providing project leadership as assigned by Branch Manager.  Knowledge of Project Management techniques and software such as Microsoft Project, is highly desirable.  Primary duties will include project management, leadership, and oversight of technical projects of varying size, complexities, and customer requirements; reporting project health (schedule, budget, and resources) and status to management and customers.  The secondary duties will be a working project lead as needed to maintain project success to meet schedule and delivery commitments.  Familiarity with flight hardware, engine, or component refurbishment, procedure development to conduct engine or component level processing such as refurbishment, troubleshooting, decontamination, handling of flight-qualified components, support equipment, and pressure vessel system maintenance per NASA requirements is desirable.


Requires an ABET-accredited Engineering degree: BS degree and three (3 ) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree and one (1) to three (3) years of related engineering experience, or a BA or BS degree in Business Administration/Logistics Management and three (3) to five (5) years of directly applicable experience in Project administration and project management.  Project lead experience in varying size of projects, leading a group of engineers and technicians, excellent communication skills with customers and management is required. Competence in use of common business software tools including the MS Office suite and MS Project is required. A strong ability to research and analyze financial data is highly desired. Expertise in project management principles and practices including earned value analysis is highly desired.  Engineering experience in flight engine refurbishment, design, procedure development to conduct engine or component level processing such as refurbishment, troubleshooting, decontamination, and handling of flight qualified components and support equipment are highly desired.  Knowledge of Space Shuttle Orbital Maneuvering Subsystem (OMS) Reaction Control System (RCS) hardware and/or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is desirable.  Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
