Your Role

As a Gensler Technical Designer with space planning experience, you will support a team of architects and designers to deliver exceptional workplace/education designs with optimized spatial solutions. You will leverage your combined expertise in architectural design, adaptive reuse, workplace interior architecture, and space planning to ensure efficient, functional, and innovative design solutions that maximize the user experience. You will work closely with the Client's team in planning spaces that meet their programmatic and functional requirements but also are imbued with a sense of cohesion with a design concept, story and purpose.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the development of strategic space planning solutions for complex workplace projects

  • Create and optimize spatial layouts for diverse program requirements

  • Manage client, team and project coordination, including documentation coordination with consultants, including architect of record, sound/acoustic, AV, lighting design, historical consultants and systems Furniture.

  • Develop detailed space programs and adjacency studies for workplace/educational design

  • Analyze circulation patterns and flow for users and staff

  • Create efficient solutions for complex operational requirements within confined spaces

  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve space planning challenges specific to workplace and education design

  • Conduct and document site visits of existing buildings in client's global real estate portfolio

  • Coordinate space planning and layouts with contemporary as well as historical building architectural features and components

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture or related field

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in designing and delivering workplace projects

  • Demonstrated expertise in space planning and programming

  • Strong understanding of workplace operational requirements and spatial relationships

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to spatial efficiency

  • Proficiency in Revit a must, experience in space planning software advantageous

  • Experience with the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept to delivery

  • Knowledge of California building regulations, standards and building structures

  • Understanding of specialized spatial requirements for workplace design

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents

  • Experience in sustainable design practices for workplace design

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present ideas and concepts with ease and conviction
