Responsibilities:

The Salon + Spa Manager must exhibit certain characteristics and perform specific duties during their daily or weekly routine. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Uphold the Nurtur Core Values and Behaviors and Aveda Success Factors
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding that the salon/spa industry is "high touch", meaning that it requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to the needs of others
  • Serve as a role model by exemplifying professionalism, integrity, and positivity, while adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a cohesive, cooperative work environment through team-building and motivation
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest trends in the salon industry by reading trade publications, attending industry events, and/or studying outside education on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with the Salon + Spa Director to identify sales opportunities and create strategies to achieve goals
  • Work with the marketing team to implement marketing strategies to attract new customers, retain current customers, and drive sales
  • Provide direction of leadership in areas of the business including but not limited to: reservations, retail, salon services, salon operations, marketing, maintenance, education, financial responsibility, and cultural standards
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance, adjusting strategies to achieve goals
  • Assist in developing or devising plans and policies/procedures to ensure the effective operations of the salon and spa
  • Conduct semi-annual reviews for all Nurtur Professionals and annual reviews for the support team
  • Conduct ongoing team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions to provide continuous feedback and support
  • Process and maintain updated knowledge of the salon's systems such as hourly structure, commission structure, and bonus incentives
  • Work with the Payroll department to ensure accuracy of compensation for the entire staff
  • Work with the HR department to ensure accuracy of all personnel for compensation, employment status, and company benefits
  • Have an intimate knowledge of the salon menu and the details of each experience offered
  • Oversee all staff schedules ensuring the salon and spa stations/rooms are fully optimized to maximize service potential
  • Oversee all time off requests and ensure accuracy of the appointment book
  • Host regular events to drive engagement and sales, and build relationships with other businesses, creating a collaborative network of partnerships
  • Ensure the building and equipment are maintained, clean, organized, and State Board compliant
  • Maintain an active pipeline of Nurtur Professionals by recruiting from local Cosmetology and Esthetics schools, and work with the Recruiting department to ensure they keep an accurate record of hiring needs
  • Interview, hire, and onboard team members in a timely manner to ensure the salon and spa are fully staffed at all times
  • Resolve customer complaints and challenges, and provide solutions for any team disputes
  • Provide ongoing recognition, support, and motivation to team members, and engage with clients to ensure exceptional experiences and address any concerns
  • Ensure that the salon's inventory levels are stocked with appropriate products and supplies and that all orders placed are within budget
  • Participate in Aveda, Nurtur, and Ultraceuticals events including career fairs, marketing events, Earth Month, Beauty for a Cure, etc


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • State-issued Cosmetology or Esthetics license is preferred but not required
  • 5 years of continuous retail and/or salon and spa experience is highly preferred
  • 5 years of management and training experience is highly preferred
  • Exhibit time-management, organization, self-direction, initiative, resourcefulness, and follow-through with the ability to work at a fast pace and handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail management software
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in position
  • Demonstrate extreme professionalism in manner, dress, and conduct
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as-needed
  • Strong commitment to customer service excellence and to the Company's mission and vision


Travel Requirements:

The team member in this position must be able to travel locally to events and for out-of-state training as necessary.
