We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Piping Designer to join our Baton Rouge team and support engineering and design projects across the refining, chemical, petrochemical, and energy sectors. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who can independently develop high-quality piping design deliverables, support 3D model development, coordinate across disciplines, and contribute technical judgement throughout project execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop piping layouts, general arrangements, isometrics, pipe supports, and related design deliverables for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Create and maintain piping design information in 3D model environments such as E3D, SP3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar tools.
  • Interpret and apply P&IDs, line lists, piping specifications, equipment data, vendor information, and client standards to produce accurate design outputs.
  • Coordinate closely with piping leads, engineers, process, mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation, electrical, stress, and project teams to resolve design issues and ensure integrated deliverables.
  • Support model reviews, design reviews, clash resolution, constructability reviews, and client coordination meetings.
  • Assist with material take-offs, valve lists, specialty item lists, tie-in schedules, and other project control documents as needed.
  • Maintain design progress information and support accurate progress tracking through project tools and databases.
  • Provide field support for walkdowns, site verification, construction questions, as-building, and design changes.
  • Review deliverables for quality, completeness, safety, constructability, and compliance with Worley, client, and industry standards.
  • Mentor junior designers and support team knowledge sharing, checking, and continuous improvement activities.
What you will bring Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements
  • Typically 5+ years of piping design experience in refining, chemical, petrochemical, industrial, or energy facilities.
  • Strong experience developing piping layouts, isometrics, pipe supports, and design packages from concept through detailed design and construction support.
  • Proficiency with 3D piping design/modeling tools such as AVEVA E3D, SP3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, MicroStation, or similar design platforms.
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs, piping specifications, line lists, equipment arrangements, piping materials, valves, specialty items, and piping design standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and applicable industry codes, standards, and safe design practices.
  • Experience supporting brownfield revamp work, tie-ins, field verification, construction support, and as-built documentation.
  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments while collaborating effectively within a multi-discipline project environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Additional Information
  • This position is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, supporting local and regional projects. Periodic site visits, field walkdowns, and client facility support may be required.
  • Work on meaningful projects that support critical energy, chemical, and industrial infrastructure across the Gulf Coast.
  • Collaborate with experienced piping, engineering, project, and construction professionals in a strong Baton Rouge design environment.
  • Contribute to both brownfield revamp and new development work while expanding your technical depth and client-facing experience.
  • Be part of a team focused on safe, practical, constructible, and high-quality design solutions.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training Required
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent design/drafting training preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Preferred
  • Experience in Gulf Coast refining, petrochemical, chemical, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience coordinating with workshare teams and maintaining design control documents.
  • Knowledge of piping stress considerations, flexibility, equipment nozzle loads, and constructability impacts on routing decisions.
  • Experience with model review tools such as Navisworks or SmartPlant Review.
  • Ability to support estimates, proposals, small project planning, and design execution strategies.
