Job description

Job Summary:
The Sanitation Technician I supports Facilities & Maintenance by maintaining clean, safe, organized, and production-ready manufacturing, warehouse, dock, waste-handling, and common areas. This role performs routine sanitation, trash removal, floor care, inspections, and assigned cleanup tasks while
following safety, housekeeping, and 5S expectations.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing, industrial sanitation, warehouse housekeeping, custodial, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow sanitation procedures, plant rules, PPE requirements, EHS expectations, and housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks safely, accurately, and with limited supervision.
  • Basic communication skills, including phone, text, email, and work-order or task-tracking systems as required.
  • Ability to operate or learn sanitation equipment including manual/riding floor scrubbers, sweepers, vacuums, and related cleaning tools.
  • Forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain if required.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, time management, and willingness to support changing priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, sweeping, mopping, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be onsite and able to work flexible shifts, overtime, weekends, or special cleanup schedules as business needs require.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized, and production-ready conditions in assigned manufacturing, warehouse, dock, common, exterior, and waste-handling areas.
  • Perform daily sanitation tasks including trash removal, recycling support, sweeping, mopping, floor scrubbing, debris removal, and assigned cleanup requests.
  • Operate, clean, and report issues with sanitation equipment and cleaning tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters, roll-off containers, scrap areas, docks, aisles, restrooms, break areas, and pedestrian paths.
  • Assist with loading, staging, moving, and disposing of approved waste streams including scrap wood, metal, cardboard, pallets, packaging, and general debris.
  • Conduct routine area checks and report safety, housekeeping, spill, waste, pest, odor, supply, equipment, or facility appearance concerns.
  • Support 5S, audits, plant tours, customer visits, special projects, event preparation, and facility appearance improvements as directed.
  • Follow all PPE, chemical handling, forklift, pedestrian safety, dock safety, spill response, waste handling, and general plant safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, warehouse, contractors, vendors, and leadership to support daily operations.
  • Perform other Facilities & Maintenance duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Limited local travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Requires routine standing, walking, and working around manufacturing, warehouse, dock, waste-handling, and exterior areas while wearing required PPE.
  • May be exposed to dust, debris, noise, moving equipment, temperature changes, outdoor conditions, cleaning chemicals, and active production environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, pull, bend and lift.
  • Exposure to weather, noise intensity level, exposure to toxic or caustic
    chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts.
