Mental Health Counselor Social Worker
Shelby County Jail Columbiana, Alabama
Full Time Monday through Friday
8 Hour Day Shifts

Are you a compassionate Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker looking for a meaningful career that combines behavioral health, advocacy, and clinical support? Southern Health Partners is seeking a dedicated mental health professional to join our healthcare team at the Shelby County Jail.
In this role, you'll provide essential mental health services to an underserved population, helping individuals navigate challenges, develop coping strategies, and access appropriate care. Every day brings the opportunity to make a lasting difference while working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Shelby County Jail provides on-site mental health and social work services as part of its inmate healthcare program.
What You'll Do
Conduct mental health screenings and assessments
Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention services
Develop and maintain treatment plans and behavioral health documentation
Collaborate with medical, nursing, and correctional staff regarding patient care needs
Facilitate referrals and coordinate continuity of care when appropriate
Monitor patient progress and provide recommendations for treatment interventions
Maintain compliance with facility, state, and company policies and procedures
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field preferred
Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred (LMSW, LICSW, LPC, ALC, or comparable credentials)
Experience in mental health, counseling, case management, or behavioral health services
Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
Correctional, community mental health, substance abuse, or crisis intervention experience is a plus
