SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, the Packager prepares orders for freight, express or parcel post shipments in accordance with shipping practices and requirements. Assemble and check orders, do packing and crating, attach shipping instructions. Operates a forklift, electrical hoist or other power driven equipment to load or move materials. Supply production areas with needed materials from inventory. Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays, shelves, or trucks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare orders for freight, express or parcel post shipments in accordance with shipping requirements
  2. Check quantity, type, size, part numbers, etc. to properly identify materials
  3. Maintain records and prepare shipping documents
  4. Verify quantity & quality of material
  5. Wrapping and banding of pallets
  6. Computer data entry
  7. Responsible for strict adherence to all company/departmental policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations
  8. Maintains a safe & clean work environment & departmental housekeeping standards
