Internship Overview

As a leading electrical contractor, we'll give you an insider's look into the industry through real-world experience on active projects. You'll get to see how different teams collaborate to bring complex projects to life, build practical and professional skills, and learn directly from industry pros in the field and office.

Role Overview

As a Procurement intern, you'll be a true extension of our Purchasing and Supply Chain team, getting hands-on experience in vendor relations, order tracking, market analysis, cost optimization and purchasing operations across our active project sites.

Because our program is tailored to your goals, you'll have the opportunity to explore the areas that interest you most. You might help manage purchase orders, research strategic supplier options, track material deliveries, or evaluate procurement processes to cut down on lead times. No matter where your interests lead, you'll contribute to meaningful projects that make a lasting impact on our culture and company.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Order & Vendor Management

• Assist with creating, reviewing, and processing purchase orders, invoices, and procurement records.
• Track deliveries and maintain communication with suppliers to ensure materials arrive on time.
• Investigate and help resolve billing or order discrepancies.

Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimization

• Support market analysis to evaluate potential suppliers, assess industry trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Assist in researching sourcing strategies to optimize material quality, pricing, and delivery schedules for active jobs.

Explore What Interests You Most

• Tailor your project workload around your specific career goals.
• You'll get opportunities to shadow negotiation strategies, dive into supply chain analytics, assist with vendor relationship management, or evaluate process improvements to streamline purchasing workflows.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Curious and ready to jump in, just bring enthusiasm, ask great questions, and be excited to take ownership of supply chain and purchasing tasks.
• Strong organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset focused on efficiency, accuracy, and vendor relationships.
• Trustworthy and ethical, with high professionalism, and discretion when working with internal teams and external suppliers.

Demonstrated Accomplishment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across project teams and vendor networks.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to assist with cost analysis and delivering tracking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with financial/procurement software (like JDE) or a quick ability to learn new enterprise platforms.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment.  Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour
