Job description

Arkansas Talent Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist on behalf of a respected Non-Profit Organization in Little Rock, Arkansas. This role works closely with the Controller and supports a wide range of accounting and finance operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with general accounting duties in compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare, post, and review journal entries and transaction details for accuracy and proper classification.
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts and confirming the completeness of entries.
  • Process payroll and related journal entries when assigned, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining vendor and customer records, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Record and track grant revenues and expenses in accordance with funding and reporting requirements.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports to assist management in decision-making.
  • Use accounting software and Excel tools (including pivot tables and lookup functions) to perform daily tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to gather information and support financial inquiries.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and related formulas).
  • Experience with accounting software and a sound understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable with excellent time management skills.
