Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university's mission. The division strives to be recognized as a student-centered university with emphasis on excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities; commitment to total student development; and outstanding service and engagement with local, regional, national and global communities.
Description of Work
Teach courses in sound recording / music technology. Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Music Technology courses including Digital Musicianship on Digital Audio Workstations not limited to: Logic, Pro Tools and computer-generated composition as well as live sound production.
Other duties include maintenance and supervision of the In-House Recording Studio as well as supervision of students in the recording studio.
Preference will be given to applicants with guitar and/or bass as a principal instrument.
The successful candidate will also work with other faculty as well as diverse community musicians and music groups to create a greater culture of alternative, popular, and commercial music styles within the music program and on campus.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
A master's degree in music or sound recording technology is preferred. Minimum requirements include a Master's Degree with 18 hours in chosen discipline.
Evidence of experience within the music industry and the ability to teach music industry and/or music technology courses is required.
Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies.
Must be committed to excellence in student learning and the ability to promote students' ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community.
