What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of a diverse range of building and site-related projects. From new construction to renovations and structural evaluations, you will apply sound engineering judgment to develop practical, efficient, and constructible solutions that support successful project outcomes.
Working alongside architects, engineers, and project managers across multiple disciplines, you will contribute to coordinated designs that meet client goals while ensuring structural integrity, code compliance, and quality throughout every phase of a project.
Your Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and site-related structures.
  • Prepare structural calculations, specifications, and construction documents that support coordinated, constructible designs.
  • Apply applicable building codes, design standards, and engineering best practices to develop safe, efficient structural solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project planning and design.
  • Perform structural evaluations and provide recommendations for repairs, renovations, and existing facilities as needed.
  • Support construction activities through field observations, submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, and technical guidance.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, and structural assessment documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and engineering staff, as appropriate.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Alabama required.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural engineering design.
  • Experience designing buildings, retaining walls, foundations, and other structural systems.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
  • Strong knowledge of structural materials, applicable building codes, and engineering standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
