The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, missile and combat system equipment. The mechanical team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon's CORE principles. ME's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, hardware integration, and electronic modules, pedestal and power and cooling systems. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The Radar Department is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer interested in hardware design to join our team. The position will primarily support design, development, and production focused on radars and supporting structures, electronic modules, power, and cooling sub-systems. The key responsibilities for this position include contributing to technical problem solving and implementing solutions in the development of new hardware in a team environment.

This role is located in Marlborough or Tewksbury, MA (On-site).

What You Will Do

Mechanical design and documentation of hardware and systems utilizing engineering tools, and MS office suite.
Contribute as part of a small team during product development, part and drawing creation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
Creatively apply mechanical engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex design problems and make sound and rationale data oriented technical conclusions in a fast paced, team environment.
Provide factory and supplier support
Collaborate with other mechanical engineers, designers, and structural / thermal analysts, as well as engineers from other disciplines to support business objectives of the organization

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field (STEM)
Experience with CAD software or CREO

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings, evidenced through class projects, professional internships, or academic research.
  • Strong aptitude for efficient and disciplined process execution, coupled with the flexibility to adapt and tailor processes as necessary for task requirements.
  • Proven ability to apply academic engineering principles to identify and resolve design challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering design processes.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, capable of managing workloads effectively to meet deadlines and our business objectives.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Tolerance Analysis and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
