Scaregrounds PDX is looking for friendly, energetic, and dependable people to join our Front of House Crew for the 2026 Halloween season at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, Oregon.

Our Front of House team is at the center of the guest experience. From welcoming guests and answering questions to managing attraction lines and helping keep the event running smoothly, you'll help set the tone for an unforgettable night at Scaregrounds PDX.

Position Overview


Front of House Crew members work throughout the event assisting guests, managing attraction entrances and queues, providing information, and supporting daily event operations.

You'll be one of the first people our guests interact with, so we're looking for team members who can provide outstanding customer service while maintaining the energy and atmosphere of Scaregrounds PDX.


Responsibilities


Guest Experience
  • Welcome guests to Scaregrounds PDX in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer questions about attractions, event operations, and general event information
  • Help guests navigate the event and locate attractions, restrooms, concessions, and other amenities
  • Assist guests with concerns and involve a supervisor when necessary
  • Help create a fun and welcoming Halloween atmosphere
Attraction & Queue Operations
  • Manage attraction entrances and guest queues
  • Verify guests are entering the appropriate attraction or experience
  • Communicate attraction rules and safety information
  • Help maintain organized and efficient lines
  • Monitor guest flow and communicate changing conditions to supervisors
  • Coordinate with Attraction Managers to maintain smooth attraction operations
  • Assist with accessibility procedures and other guest needs according to event policies
Event Operations
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized Front of House areas
  • Communicate operational updates with other departments
  • Report guest concerns, safety issues, or unusual situations to management
  • Assist with other event duties as needed throughout the evening
Qualifications
  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with the public
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or stressful situations
  • Comfortable working as part of a large team
  • Able to follow instructions and event procedures
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in changing fall weather conditions
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift
Experience Preferred – But Not Required


Experience in any of the following is helpful:

  • Customer service
  • Theme parks or attractions
  • Festivals and special events
  • Haunted attractions
  • Hospitality
  • Retail
  • Theater or live entertainment
  • Crowd or queue management

No haunted attraction experience is required. Training will be provided.

Schedule


This is a seasonal position during the Halloween season.


Front of House Crew members primarily work evenings and weekends, with additional shifts available during peak October dates.


Availability on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and dates surrounding Halloween is especially important.


Team members will also attend required orientation and training prior to the event opening.


Work Environment


Scaregrounds PDX is a live outdoor Halloween event. Team members should be prepared for:

  • Fog and theatrical effects
  • Flashing and theatrical lighting
  • Outdoor fall weather
  • Extended periods of standing and walking
  • A fast-paced work environment
