Boom Truck Operator

Felix Construction Company is seeking a safety-focused and dependable Boom Truck Operator to support our construction operations throughout Arizona. In this role, you will safely transport materials and equipment to project sites and operate boom truck cranes to lift, position, and place materials efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, experience operating commercial vehicles and lifting equipment, and takes pride in supporting project teams with professionalism and accountability.

What You'll Do

  • Safely transport construction materials and equipment to and from project sites.
  • Operate boom trucks and hydraulic cranes to load, unload, lift, and position materials.
  • Drive commercial vehicles safely on public roadways and active construction sites.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily inspections of assigned equipment.
  • Calculate load weights, crane capacities, and proper outrigger placement before lifts.
  • Work closely with field crews using radios and standard hand signals to ensure safe lifting operations.
  • Complete DOT logs, mileage reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation.
  • Identify equipment issues, perform minor field adjustments, and report repair needs.
  • Maintain equipment in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
  • Support field operations by operating other heavy equipment as qualified and assigned.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and crane operating requirements.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, project management, and field personnel to support productive jobsite operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Hold a valid Class A with required endorsements.
  • Possess a current DOT Medical Card.
  • Have a current NCCCO (or equivalent) crane certification.
  • Experience operating boom trucks, cranes, or other heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in load charts, rigging practices, and construction safety procedures.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and following established procedures.
  • Strong communicator who works effectively with field crews and project stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to make sound decisions in dynamic jobsite environments.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and electronic inspection or work order systems.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and accountable for the quality of your work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may be substituted.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This position requires working on construction job sites in extreme temperatures. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and may occasionally use hand tools associated with the construction industry. Specific vision abilities required include the ability to adjust and focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods, climb on and off equipment, walk, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms, hear, and talk.
