Summary
This position is located at Recycling Center, Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties
Help
  • Works under the supervision of the Materials Sorting Supervisor who issues instructions on procedures, methods and deadlines, and relies on incumbent to assure work assignments are carried out by other members of the recycling activity.
  • Follows established procedures in receiving, checking, verifying, sorting, and classifying materials and equipment by condition. Work is usually performed in a Recycle processing center
  • The incumbent collects, receives, identifies sorts, moves material to the baler machine, and operates the baler insuring the material is correct for the process.
  • Operates gas or diesel-powered forklift trucks capable of lifting up to 6,000 pounds and positioning loads as high as 168 inches, In addition, incumbent will operate the forklift to load truck trailers using inclined ramps.
  • Will be required to drive a 2ยฝ ton, stable body and a stake body truck with a gross weight of more than 7,000 pounds, but less than 22,000 pounds, collect recycle material from the community and from operating units on post.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • May be required to lift moderate to heavy items regularly weighing up to 75 pounds while preforming assigned duties.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include physical examination.
  • Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities
  • Must be able to operate and drive a forklift.
  • The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and carry personal liability insurance at the level required by the Installation and State.
  • May be required to obtain a commercial driver's license.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
