Job description

Sorting Associate – Warehouse / Food Distribution

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable Sorting Associate to support a fast-paced warehouse and food distribution operation. This role plays a critical part in receiving, sorting, and organizing donated food and household products that are distributed to community partners. The environment is highly interactive and community-focused, with daily collaboration alongside corporate and individual volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort, inspect, and organize donated products (including shelf-stable food, beverages, and household goods) as they arrive at the warehouse

  • Separate and stage products based on distribution orders and warehouse organization standards

  • Work closely with volunteers, providing guidance and instruction on proper sorting and handling procedures

  • Support shipping and receiving operations, including unloading deliveries and preparing outgoing orders

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production/warehouse environment

  • Operate warehouse equipment such as electric hand pallet jacks (preferred); forklift operation is a plus

  • Assist with general warehouse organization and inventory flow as needed

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of warehouse experience, preferably in shipping & receiving or distribution

  • Prior experience working in a production or sorting environment

  • Comfortable interacting with the public and working side-by-side with volunteers daily

  • Strong communication skills and ability to give clear direction

  • Ability to lift, stand, and move throughout the shift in a production setting

  • Electric pallet jack experience preferred

  • Forklift certification is a plus
