Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a Seasonal Inspector Sorter to be responsible for working on production line sorting and inspecting fruit at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically August – November.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Always Promotes Food Safety Culture as a priority in all situations through conversations, communications, and actions
  • Stand at workstation for up to 7.5 hours per day.
  • Observes the flow of the fruit on conveyors; removes any fruit that does not meet the minimum requirements of quality fruit.
  • Requires the use of proper personal protective equipment such as waterproof shoes or boots, waterproof or chemical resistant gear (pants/jacket), safety glasses or goggles, face shield, gloves.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 5 pounds, occasionally push up to 10 pounds along rollers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; not required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility; food industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to determine a quality can by observing dents and defects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers or management.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically August to November.
