GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

Under close supervision, responsible for safely and efficiently moving product within the distribution center using powered equipment such as standup forklifts, order selectors, reach trucks, powered pallet jacks, and dock stockers.  When not operating equipment, the role may also support general warehouse functions throughout the distribution center such as shipping, receiving, stocking, order fulfillment, packing, sorting, labeling, or quality assurance. Work is performed in accordance with company policies and guidelines, using tools such as n RF scanners, step ladders, conveyor systems, and sortation walls.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

The Material Handler Equipment Operator is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):

Performance

  • Operates powered industrial trucks (PIT), including but not limited to fork trucks, order selectors, dock stockers, and powered pallet jacks; with the ability to certify on all pieces of equipment as needed
  • Performs daily checks on equipment prior to operating
  • Demonstrates flexibility in daily task assignments and performs other general warehouse tasks, as assigned
  • Accurately picks and packs orders using established work practices
  • Restocks picking bins with product brought from reserve storage based on warehouse management system reporting.
  • Accurately sorts, counts, and receives all merchandise
  • Moves product to and from pallet racks with powered material handling equipment such as pallet jack
  • Works with conveyors to accurately build pallets of cartons to ship out
  • Loads or unloads trucks, sorting and labeling product as needed
  • Organizes warehouse storage space effectively
  • Works in a clean and orderly manner at all times
  • Uses a RF scanner/hand scanner to direct work (pick, pack, receive, move)
  • Use of sortation walls and conveyor systems to complete daily tasks
  • Meets safety, productivity, and quality standards
  • Demonstrates flexibility in daily task assignments and performs other general warehouse tasks, as assigned

  • Reports faulty equipment, damage to company property including racks, and other safety hazards to supervisor
  • Executes other operational tasks as directed
  • Adheres to established attendance, quality, and production standards
  • Follows instructions quickly, safely and accurately
  • Effectively communicates, understands basic written and oral instructions, reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, in English

  • High school diploma or GED; 1 year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience

  • Previous relevant experience is preferred

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must successfully complete training and obtain certification in assigned area, including specific equipment certification
  • Basic math skills including the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Knowledge of RF (radio frequency) scanners
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Ability to multitask

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Works a flexible schedule to include mandatory overtime during the week and/or weekend as well as holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

 

WORKING CONDITIONS                                                         

  • Constant exposure to loud noises
  • Occasionally required to work at elevated heights
  • While operating an order picker, must wear a safety harness and could be elevated more than 20 feet off the ground
  • Exposure to variable temperatures
  • Exposure to dusty environment
  • May be exposed to strong scents related to cosmetic or fragrance
  • May be required to work in narrow aisles or trailers
  • Must wear cut gloves when box cutters are used
