Position Summary: Manages a staff of supervisors to insure timely distribution of merchandise within the standards of budget, policies, procedures, and quality to satisfy the requirements of the Wholesale Divisions.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Job:
  • Coordinates traffic, operations, production planning and merchandise coordinators in the preparation of daily operations schedules for receiving, production and shipping to include the daily staffing assignment plan.
  • Develops and implements methods for continuous improvement of quality, order turn- around, and productivity within established payroll and expense budgets.
  • Ensures adherence to procedures that promote the health, safety and welfare of all associates in the facility's operating departments.
  • Trains and develops supervisors to provide management depth.
  • Monitors purchasing, traffic and inventory control to keep expenditures within acceptable budget limits and provide for alternate plans in the event of unforeseen emergencies.
  • Ensures efficient space utilization within the facility.
  • Ensures housekeeping and equipment are maintained in like new fashion.
  • Ensures first echelon maintenance program is adhered to.

Decision Making:
1. Plans for volume of business and corresponding number of associates (full-time, part-time and temp.) to accomplish necessary production.
2. Directs supervision on daily priorities and resulting labor force distribution.
Resourcefulness/Creativity:
1. Develops AD HOC operational plans and concepts to facilitate production and special
handling requirements due to abnormal operating circumstances.
2. Stimulates staff to develop and enhance procedures to increase production and quality.
Environment:
1. Some travel required to corporate office and other W&D locations.
2. Computer skills are essential to understand daily production requirements.
3. 850,000 sq. foot facility plus 100,000 sq. foot mezzanine.
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: Minimum job content knowledge: Facility operation, planning and budgeting in a highly automated distribution environment. Knowledge of work methods, some indirect engineering, RF equipment and tilt-tray sortation.
Minimum experience: Seven (7) years' management experience in a large distribution center. Automation background in footwear and apparel experience preferred. Automation background in footwear and apparel experience preferred.
Education: Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or related discipline is preferred but not required.
Additional Compensation: This role is bonus eligible.
