Job description

Position Summary

OPEX Corporation is seeking motivated and skilled Installation Technicians to join our dynamic Installation Team. In this role, you will assist in the installation, assembly, and commissioning of advanced warehouse automation systems at customer sites throughout the United States, and occasionally internationally.  This role requires extensive travel, offers overtime opportunities, and includes paid travel expenses. This position involves hands-on mechanical and electrical installation work, equipment testing, and system setup.  This position is ideal for individuals who are technically capable, motivated to learn, and interested in growing into leadership, foreman, or supervisory roles within the installation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and assemble warehouse automation equipment including conveyors, robotics, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), and sortation systems.
  • Install mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components such as motors, sensors, wiring, and control devices. 
  • Follow installation instructions, engineering drawings, and standard trade practices under the direction of the Foreman or Supervisor. 
  • Support troubleshooting of electromechanical systems and PLC-controlled equipment during installation and startup. 
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while working on installation sites. 
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts when required. 
  • Transport materials and equipment within installation areas. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Technical training, trade school, or an associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in industrial installation, electromechanical maintenance, robotics, or warehouse automation systems preferred. 
  • Experience installing conveyors or material handling equipment is a plus. 
  • Basic knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems. 
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) is beneficial. 
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Physical Requirements & Work Environment 

  • Willingness to travel extensively (75-90%) to customer installation sites across the United States.      Projects typically last 1-4 weeks per location. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including day, night, weekend, and overtime shifts when required.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods. 
  • Frequent lifting of materials up to 50-70 lbs. 
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and operate scissor lifts. 
  • Capable of bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching in confined spaces around equipment. 
  • Ability to work in industrial environments including extreme temperatures, dust, and noise. 

Compensation

  • $20 - $30 per hour (based on experience)
