LEGAL DOCUMENT CLERK

Summary

Reese Law Group is a civil litigation law firm representing clients in all stages of collections, subrogation, replevin, and bankruptcy matters. We have 30 years of experience representing Fortune 500 companies, working to maximize their recovery and minimize their exposure.

Reese Law Group is seeking a Legal Document Clerk to join our litigation team. The candidate will assist the firm’s litigation department by providing high-volume support in preparation of many types of legal document. Legal Document Clerks support attorneys in the law firm by gathering, organizing, and preparing various documents and files for court cases. They may also meet with attorneys, clients or other legal professionals to gather helpful details about upcoming court cases. They’ll perform investigations to fact-check information for different cases by searching through public records and other resources provided by clients.

Ideal candidates, must be extremely organized to regularly sort, manage, and file various client documents. They should also have strong computer skills as they regularly use different applications to organize information and input data. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are needed as well to effectively interact with clients and attorneys. They’ll also need these written skills to draft and proofread legal documents. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.

Essential Job Functions

· Provide high-volume administrative assistance to multiple attorneys.

· Drafting and filing legal documents with the courts such as summons and complaints, defaults judgments, writs of execution, abstracts, oppositions to claims of exemptions, renewals of judgment, release of liens, and satisfactions of judgment.

· Correspond with a variety of Sheriff’s departments and Court Clerks throughout the State of California.

· Report to work in a regular and timely manner.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements

· Experience level: Litigation experience preferred, not required.

· Education level: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required. Paralegal certificate preferred, no required.

· Basic knowledge of CA civil litigation rules and deadlines preferred, not required.

· Ability to use reasoning and analytical skills to make decisions and articulate the reasoning behind the solution chosen to a problem that may have multiple solutions.

· Ability to communicate verbally in a clear, calm, and polite manner over the telephone and in person.

· Ability to pay close attention to details, including but not limited to: deadlines, confidential information, financial figures, and legal claims.

· Ability to take initiative in learning new concepts, seeking additional information, and asking questions of co-workers when uncertain.

· Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks in a manner that enables timely completion.

· Ability to utilize MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other computer software programs in an efficient manner, and to search for help in the use of such programs independently via the internet.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

· Must be able to work in a seated or standing position, for periods up to and exceeding 8.0 hours per day.

· Extensive use of a mouse and keyboard, and calculator.

· Extended viewing of a computer screen.

· Extensive use of a telephone.

Scheduling Requirements

· Must be able to work a normal M-F schedule on site.
