Job description

The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Medical Oncologist with interest and expertise in melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies.  Our ideal candidate would be an early to mid-career medical oncologist with ambition to expand the Mayo Clinic in Arizona Melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies Medical Oncology Program. The applicant will have the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful candidate will partner with our internationally recognized group including, but not limited to, dermatology, dermatologic oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology teams in a multidisciplinary clinic, develop and conduct clinical trials, help recruit future colleagues and drive innovation across the spectrum of care. The successful applicant will be able to build their academic practice and reputation nationally and internationally.

Mayo Clinic Arizona will provide the successful applicant with many opportunities to contribute to existing efforts, grow new programs, and pursue a personalized academic career path related to melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies research and treatment, and continue to build a reputation nationally and internationally. 

Cancer care at Mayo Clinic is managed collaboratively across the Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota campuses therefore the applicant will have access to the combined resources of the entire Mayo Clinic Enterprise Network.  This includes over more than 250 oncologists and hematologists, CORE research facilities, pathology, clinical records, and over 2000 faculty involved in cancer care. Clinical trials are conducted in collaboration with Industry partners, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network amongst others.

Additionally, Mayo Clinic has a strategic and robust relationship with Arizona State University (ASU). ASU has its headquarters located in Tempe, Arizona, and is now the largest university in the United States. It has been designated by US World and News as the most innovative university in the nation for eight years in a row. Mayo Clinic and ASU formalized their relationship in 2016 under the rubric of the Mayo Clinic and ASU Alliance for Healthcare. We have multiple areas of interaction, including research, education, innovation, and administration. Four focal areas of interest include Human Performance and Biomedical Research, Digital Connectivity, Workforce of the Future (Education), and Medical Technology. ASU built a research building in proximity to Mayo Clinic hospital, the Health Futures Center. In collaboration with ASU, we are building a biotechnology corridor called Discovery Oasis. Individuals of Mayo Clinic can hold adjunct appointments at ASU, and in some circumstances can have students as part of the research team.
