Primary Function: 

The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex engineering initiatives within Department of Defense (DoD) environments, ensuring compliance with government regulations, defense standards, and acquisition policies. This role requires technical expertise, program management acumen, and strong coordination skills to deliver mission-critical solutions.  Projects may operate within Agile frameworks, requiring adaptability, iterative planning, and cross-functional collaboration to align with evolving defense priorities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Execution
    • Define project scope, establish milestones, and ensure timely delivery within budget and compliance constraints.
    • Oversee risk management, issue resolution, and strategic planning to mitigate project risks.
    • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies.
    • Implement Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or Hybrid Agile) where applicable, ensuring iterative development and stakeholder alignment.
  • Engineering Oversight & Compliance
    • Ensure projects meet MIL-STD, DFARS, FAR, and cybersecurity requirements, aligning technical solutions with operational needs.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to validate technical specifications, integration processes, and quality assurance.
    • Maintain compliance with AS9100 standards for documentation and system integration.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
    • Engage with government agencies, military personnel, and subcontractors to align project requirements and expectations.
    • Oversee procurement processes, including SSOW validation, proposal evaluation, and vendor negotiations.
    • Act as the primary interface for contract modifications, scope changes, and performance metrics reporting.
    • Collaborate with Agile teams to prioritize requirements, manage backlogs, and ensure continuous improvement.



Work Conditions: 

  • Employee will be working mostly within an office environment. Employee may travel to work site locations where employee will be expected to dress in appropriate manner to interface with clients and customers.  Some travel will be necessary to meet the requirements for the positions.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-5 years managing engineering projects within DoD or federal contracting environments.
    • Expertise in Agile methodologies, systems engineering, and program execution.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong background in systems integration, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and regulatory compliance.
    • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Primavera).
    • Ability to analyze staffing plans, validate LOE, and develop structured workflows.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Agilist, DAWIA Certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense technology, or government contracting.
  • Strong diplomatic communication skills for navigating sensitive leadership transitions.
