The City of Napa's Parks and Recreation Services Department provides a variety of services for our community and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide array of parks and recreation areas within 820 acres; including 55 parks, 26 miles of trails, an urban forest consisting of 30,000 trees, and several public facilities. The Department employs 43 full-time staff and over 200 seasonal, part-time staff and volunteers.

Ours Parks Division is currently seeking applicants for one (1) opening for a Parks, Trees and Facilities Supervisorin the following assignment area: Trees. This is an amazing opportunity to become a leader in the Trees Section of our Parks Division. In this role, you will excel as a leader by sharing your knowledge, expertise, and mentor a hardworking team that strive to keep our Parks pristine. Applicants with tree related work experience are encouraged to apply!
TREES ASSIGNMENT: This position will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tree related operations for the Parks Division. This may include tree pruning, removal, replacement, stump grinding, pesticide application, and management of tree related permits and projects. Other responsibilities include supervision of Parks Division 24/7 standby staffing and responding to tree related emergency events.
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two (2) years of journey level experience equivalent to a Park Maintenance Worker III at the City of Napa. Lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
Education: Completion of coursework in urban forestry, parks and landscape maintenance, building maintenance, or other closely related field is required. Additional course work in management and supervision preferred.
Special Requirement(s): Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required. Possession of a valid California Class B Driver's License with appropriate endorsements may be required based on assignment.
Possession of a valid State of California Qualified Applicator's Certificate with certificate categories appropriate to area of assignment is required by completion of the probationary period.
