JOB TITLE: Junior Instructor
DIVISION: Ski & Ride School
REPORTS TO: Ski & Ride School Supervisors
LOCATION: Ski & Ride School Building/ On mountain
COMPENSATION: $18.65
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time / Temporary / Seasonal
Priority consideration will be given to former employees during the initial phase of this recruitment process. External applications will be retained for future consideration.
POSITION:
The junior instructor will provide quality support and help to the ski & ride school programs. The qualified candidate will assist with ski/snowboard instruction to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Utah Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Attend required training sessions.

  • 15-17 years of age (preferred) .

  • Able to ski or snowboard proficiently on blue groomed terrain.

  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)

  • Must have excellent guest service skills, outgoing, & demonstrate the ability to interact with a variety of different people .

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must work well in a team environment

  • Must be able to work inclement weather in an alpine environment.

  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions .

  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends (time off during peak/holiday periods is not available)

  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children

  • Participation in the PSIA Junior Instructor Program (preferred).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied challenging terrain with constantly changing winter weather conditions.

  • Assisting guests, including young children , to load and unload the chairlift.

  • Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson; lifting children .

  • Assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring the return of children to the identified guardian .

  • Assisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride School programs including but not limited to the registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities .

  • Be a positive and professional ambassador of Solitude, and Snow Sports in general, to all guests
