Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter with strong SolidWorks experience to join our engineering team. This position is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models for manufacturing. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, production, and quality teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.

Develop assemblies, fabrication drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).

Revise existing drawings and engineering documentation as design changes occur.

Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and customer requirements.

Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product designs and production efficiency.

Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards and industry best practices.

Support prototype development, testing, and design revisions.

Maintain accurate engineering files and document control.

Assist with engineering change orders (ECOs) and product documentation.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of mechanical drafting experience.

Proficient in SolidWorks with experience creating complex parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.

Strong understanding of GD&T, geometric tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding, or fabricated components is a plus.

Experience with AutoCAD is preferred but not required.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial production environments.

Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.

Familiarity with revision control and engineering documentation.

Understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
