Job Description

  • Follow all company safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Meet customer and company quality standards for fabrication as directed.
  • Read basic blueprints and sketches to draft metal components for fabrication.
  • Produce detailed drawings based on engineering specifications, focusing on dimensions, material selection, and fastening methods.
  • Create and modify 2D and 3D drawings for manufacturing projects.
  • Create initial designs using modeling software to build and simulate parts.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Report safety concerns, near misses, property damage, and injuries immediately.
  • Work 40 hours per week, plus overtime as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • CAD proficiency: Must demonstrate mastery of SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including:

o Complex assemblies with a multitude of parts

o Use of advanced modeling techniques, including parametric modeling

o Integration with other design and analysis software

o Manufacturing knowledge with an in-depth understanding of the entire fabrication process, from material properties to final assembly, including:

    • Sheet metal parts design for manufacturability, including bend allowances and material thickness, use proper welding symbols and understanding the properties of metals.
    • Ensuring drawings meet industry standards like ISO or ASME

Required Technical Skills

  • Advanced CAD software knowledge.
  • Expertise in creating highly detailed technical drawings, including:
    • Accurate dimensioning and annotations
    • Applying industry-specific symbols and conventions
  • A strong grasp of core drafting principles, such as orthographic projections, section views, and scaling.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications from engineering teams.
