The Position:

The Electrical Engineer position is a hybrid or Onsite position depending on the department requirement, and it plays an important role with this rapidly growing company. This is a very dynamic and fast-track position reporting to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager inside the service engineering group. The position will be the key member of the service engineering team and it is a highly technical customer facing position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of various solar inverters and battery storage technologies.
  • Perform as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments.
  • Interact with customers to explain the technical scope of projects.
  • Create and update field service procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Provide training to Customers, Vendors, and Internal Personnel as a virtual team member of the training center.
  • Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for the generation of technical documents and training.
  • Responsible for the technical issues of a certain region based on the job assignment.
  • Lead the preparation of root cause reports to the customer.
  • Lead and track technical issues from customers/FST/PM/etc. on Airtable to visualize the process of the issues.
  • Analyze failures for trends requiring proactive actions and provide reports on findings.
  • Provide feedback to the R&D team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Advise, provide training on, and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters and their components in the field or in the laboratory. Use of PQA and oscilloscope is required as needed.
  • Perform troubleshooting to investigate solar plant issues such as battery issues, inverter faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.
  • Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters.
  • Research alternative components that can be used in the field.
  • Independently performs a range of field service tasks involving communication with Factory Engineering and Customer’s solar plant engineer.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the solar/BESS plants.
  • Help with the repair activities in the Service center.
  • Prepare and submit field reports to customers and management.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems. Propose solutions, alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Inspects working conditions to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines.
  • Weekly call with Engineers from Headquarters to review the progress of the issues resolution process.
  • Provide details for a monthly report.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
  • Must possess customer service, problem-solving skills, and possess decision making and analytical skills.
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of electrical and construction site safety.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, power Point and Outlook)
  • Must have basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards


Education or Desired License and Certificates:

  • 4 years of experience in power electronics related companies as the service engineer/application engineer/R&D/Product Management or similar positions, or 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in electrical engineering or similar majors.
  • Solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics experience is preferred.

  • System and product level mindset.
  • Organization, detailed-oriented nature, and strong initiative.
  • Strong technical support focus and a service-oriented individual both with sales team and customers.
  • Modbus protocol knowledge is desired, but not required.
  • English language proficiency required.
  • Mandarin Chinese Proficiency desired, but not required.


Travel:

  • 50%

  • Contract-to-Hire role based in St Louis, Indianapolis, or Houston areas

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $80,000 - $120,000 This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base salary offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
