Solar Installer Technician

Location: Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Texas

Job Typer: Full-Time

Reports To: Field Operations Director / Construction Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Installer Technician to join our growing renewable energy team.  This position is responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of residential and commercial solar photovoltaic systems.

The ideal candidate has hand-on construction experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. As our company continues expanding across multiple markets, Solar Install Technicians will play a key role in supporting high-volume solar deployments and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic systems
  • Assemble and install solar racking, mounting systems, panels, and related hardware.
  • Assist with electrical wiring, conduit installation, inverter placement, and system connections under the supervision of licensed electricians when required.
  • Read and interpret site plans, engineering drawings, and installation documents.
  • Perform site preparation and material staging prior to installation.
  • Ensure installations comply with company standards, manufacturer specifications, local building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Complete quality assurance inspections and punch-list items.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, photographs, and installation reports.
  • Safely operate ladders, lifts, power tools, and other construction equipment.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, project managers, inspectors, and utility representatives.
  • Support service calls, warranty work, repairs, and system upgrades as needed.
  • Assist with inventory management and vehicle organization.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of solar installation, electrical, roofing, construction, or related filed experience.
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic system components and installation practices.
  • Ability to read construction plans and electrical diagrams.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid drives license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification, or ability to obtain.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience with Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, SMA, or similar solar technologies.
  • Electrical apprenticeship or journeyman experience.
  • Commercial solar installation experience.
  • Forklift, boom lift, or telehandler certifications.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops safely.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift, move, and install solar modules and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
