Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this position will include the execution of behind-the-meter (BTM) non-residential solar and energy storage projects across the nation. This role will collaborate with our sales and engineering teams and hold direct oversight of all planning, procurement, and vendor management to deliver a seamless installation process for clients from project handoff to commissioning and closeout. Projects typically include rooftop, carport, and ground-mount systems interconnected at the customer meter and coordinated closely with customers, utilities, AHJs, engineers, and construction teams. This role does not include residential or utility-scale projects and requires direct experience managing complex commercial solar and energy storage projects, live electrical systems, and customer-facing project delivery. This role may also include project management of commercial EV charging and lighting projects.

1. Project Execution & Delivery

  • Manage multiple concurrent commercial projects from handoff through NTP, construction, PTO, and final closeout
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within contractual scope and margin targets

2. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building owners, property managers, and off-takers
  • Coordinate closely with internal sales, engineering, procurement, and finance
  • Manage external relationships with engineers, subcontractors, utilities, and AHJs

3 Pre-Construction

  • Oversee permitting, inspections, and utility interconnection processes
  • Coordinate utility applications, interconnection studies, and witness testing
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, site-specific safety requirements, and contractual obligations

4 Construction Oversight

  • Lead project progress from pre-construction to field execution
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, and safety on active job sites remotely and in-person
  • Manage change orders, RFI responses, and issue resolution during construction

5 Financial & Contract Management

  • Track project costs, approve invoices, and manage change order pricing
  • Support contract review and ensure adherence to customer agreements, PPAs, or EPC contracts
  • Assist with project closeout documentation, as-built drawings, and O&M handoff

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of project management experience in commercial, behind-the-meter solar and energy storage projects
  • Experience with commercial EV charging and lighting projects preferred
  • PMP or other project management certification
  • NABCEP PV Associate certification or more preferred
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, utility interconnection, and electrical standards including but not limited to NEC, NFPA, UL, NEMA, OSHA, SBC, and ASTM
  • Experience working with third-party owned projects (PPAs, leases, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to read plansets, blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, customer-facing projects, and a large portfolio of nation-wide construction projects
  • Knowledge in aspects of construction and project management including quoting, budgeting, scheduling, permitting, vendor management, and project documentation
  • Knowledge of project documentation (project meetings, contracts, change orders, etc.)
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, SiteTracker, and/or other similar software applications
  • Strong sense of urgency in dealing with client issues
  • Effective client negotiation and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication/problem-solving skills
  • 80% of time spent working out of the main office or from home and 20% time may be spent traveling to jobsites
