Position Summary
The Assistant Equipment Technician supports the Equipment Engineering team by performing basic equipment checks, routine preventive tasks, and assisting with troubleshooting activities in the solar cells manufacturing facility. Working under the direction of the Technician II, Equipment and the Equipment Engineer, this role helps ensure the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing equipment to maintain smooth production operations. The Assistant Equipment Technician is an entry-level, hands-on role designed to build technical skills and support overall equipment uptime.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance tasks as directed by senior technicians or engineers.
  • Assist in identifying basic equipment issues and promptly alert senior team members for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Monitor equipment during assigned shifts and report unusual conditions, alarms, or operating irregularities.
  • Help production teams with equipment-related needs to support consistent and uninterrupted manufacturing processes.
  • Perform basic cleaning, component replacement, and equipment upkeep following established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment checks, minor repairs, and shift observations.
  • Assist in equipment setup, simple adjustments, and basic calibration tasks under supervision.
  • Participate in shift handover discussions by clearly communicating observations, pending tasks, and equipment status.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company maintenance standards.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability or workflow efficiency.
  • Work required shift schedules, including nights, weekends, or rotating shifts based on production needs.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework or vocational training in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Technology, or related fields preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing, or technical support (internships or school-based experience welcome).
  • Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude with the desire to grow into more advanced troubleshooting and repair responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments or tools; exposure to solar production equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, and perform hands-on tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn maintenance software.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
