Are you a proven solar leader ready to take full ownership of a growing business unit? Scalo Solar Solutions is seeking an experienced Vice President & General Manager to lead and scale our commercial solar operations while driving revenue, operational excellence, and team performance.

This is a high‑impact, executive‑level role where you’ll shape strategy, oversee end‑to‑end solar project execution, and work directly with company leadership to grow the solar division within the Scalo Companies.

About Us:

Scalo Solar Solutions is the leading Solar Developer & EPCD Contractor focused on the development of solar power on projects in the Pittsburgh and Ohio regions. Since 2010, we’ve been helping residential, commercial, and industrial properties gain their energy independence using our expertise in PV design, construction, yield analysis, tax models, and financial engineering.


About the Role:

As Vice President & General Manager, you will:

  • Lead the sales, estimating, and operations teams for Scalo Solar
  • Provide executive oversight on commercial solar projects from inception to closeout
  • Drive process improvement, profitability, and growth
  • Act as a key member of the Executive Management Team
  • Report directly to the COO and collaborate closely with the CEO.


What You’ll Do:

  • Provide strong, steady leadership with a collaborative and solutions‑driven mindset
  • Build a high‑performing solar team through coaching, mentorship, and performance management
  • Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Lead Sales and Operations to ensure a seamless hand‑off from proposal to project execution
  • Review and approve all bids and estimates using deep technical and financial expertise
  • Partner with estimating and project management teams to ensure project success
  • Oversee solar system design, engineering reviews, shop drawings, and permitting
  • Manage solar contract administration
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, engineering standards, and safety regulations
  • Analyze and streamline internal processes to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Prepare for upcoming projects by identifying risks and proactively solving challenges
  • Stay current on solar technology, incentives, tax credits, and industry trends


What We’re Looking For


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with financial management and strategic planning
  • Experience working with electrical installation and wiring
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and solar industry practices
  • Experience in solar system production analysis and financial modeling 
  • Proficiency in reading architectural and electrical drawings
  • Experience with:
    • Solar production analysis
    • Financial modeling
    • PV system design (string sizing, wire sizing, inverter sizing, AC/DC ratios)
    • Data communication and system commissioning
  • Strong communication skills with clients, executives, and field teams
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift equipment, and perform physical tasks as required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • NABCEP PV Installation Certification
  • Experience with solar incentives and tax subsidy modeling
  • Familiarity with Sage Timberline estimating and project management software


Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 per year
