Solar Installer/Electrician - All Experience Levels

ATX Solar

Austin, TX • On-site

$18 - $45/hr

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

ATX Solar is growing our installation team, and we are hiring at every experience level!
Whether you are brand new to the trade, already have solar experience, can lead a roof crew, or hold a Texas electrical license, we want to hear from you.
We are currently considering:

  • Entry-Level Solar Helpers
  • Solar Installers
  • Electrical Apprentices
  • Experienced Solar Technicians
  • Roof Leads and Crew Leads
  • Residential Wiremen
  • Journeyman Electricians
  • Solar and Battery Service Technicians

What You May Be Doing

Your responsibilities will depend on your experience and the position we place you in. Work may include:

  • Loading, staging, and organizing solar equipment
  • Installing roof attachments, flashing, racking, and solar modules
  • Measuring and laying out residential solar arrays
  • Installing conduit, conductors, disconnects, inverters, gateways, and monitoring equipment
  • Installing Enphase and Tesla battery-storage systems
  • Assisting with electrical tie-ins and equipment upgrades
  • Troubleshooting solar, battery, and monitoring issues
  • Completing jobsite photographs and installation documentation
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
  • Following plans, manufacturer requirements, electrical codes, and local inspection requirements
  • Leading crews, training less-experienced installers, and maintaining installation quality
  • Helping us complete installations correctly the first time and avoid unnecessary go-backs

Who We Are Looking For
We will consider applicants at any experience level, but everyone must bring the same basics:

  • Dependable and ready to work
  • Able to show up on time consistently
  • Willing to learn and accept coaching
  • Safety-conscious and attentive to details
  • Comfortable working outdoors in Central Texas conditions
  • Comfortable working from ladders and on residential roofs, when required by the position
  • Physically able to lift, carry, and safely handle solar equipment
  • Able to work effectively as part of a crew
  • Respectful toward customers, coworkers, and customer property
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to our warehouse
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record when driving is part of the position

Solar experience is not required for entry-level helper positions. Construction, roofing, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on trade experience is helpful.
Applicants performing electrical work must possess the appropriate current Texas electrical license or registration required for their assigned responsibilities.
Additional Expectations for Experienced and Lead Applicants
Experienced candidates should be able to demonstrate the skills associated with the pay level and position they are seeking. Depending on the role, this may include:

  • Reading plans, one-lines, and equipment specifications
  • Independently completing roof layouts and attachment systems
  • Proper flashing, waterproofing, and roof-penetration practices
  • Bending and installing clean conduit runs
  • Completing residential solar and battery electrical work
  • Diagnosing system and communication problems
  • Preparing installations to pass inspection
  • Directing crew members and managing daily production
  • Identifying problems before they become expensive go-backs

Compensation
Pay ranges from $18 to $45 per hour. Starting pay is determined by:

  • Relevant solar, roofing, construction, or electrical experience
  • Current Texas electrical licensing
  • Ability to independently perform the required work
  • Crew-leadership and training ability
  • Installation quality and attention to detail
  • Troubleshooting capability
  • Reliability and demonstrated production

The top of the range is reserved for qualified, licensed, or highly experienced candidates who can independently perform advanced work or lead others. Claimed experience alone does not determine pay. We pay for demonstrated ability, responsibility, and results. References may be required.
