Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Insulator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience insulating HVAC systems, ductwork, plumbing piping, domestic water lines, chilled water lines, and refrigeration lines. We prefer candidates with 3-4 years of commercial mechanical insulation experience, but we are also open to individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn the trade.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Review project documents, specifications, and drawings to understand mechanical insulation system requirements, insulation materials, and installation methods.

  • Install insulation on HVAC ductwork, mechanical piping, plumbing piping, domestic water lines, chilled water lines, and refrigeration systems.

  • Install and work with various insulation products, including:

    • Duct wrap and rigid board

    • Fiberglass pipe covering

    • Armaflex

    • Foam glass

    • Phenolic insulation

    • PVC and aluminum jacketing

  • Measure work areas and accurately determine material quantities and create material lists.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project documents.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with the installation team and other construction trades.

  • Assist and support other trade teams during insulation downtime as needed.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Properly use and maintain PPE, company tools, rental equipment, and personal hand tools.

  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities.

  • Mentor and assist apprentices and other team members in achieving project goals.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

  • Complete work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Qualifications
  • Preferred: 3-4 years of commercial mechanical insulation experience

  • Experience insulating:

    • HVAC ductwork

    • Mechanical piping systems

    • Plumbing piping systems

    • Domestic water lines

    • Chilled water lines

    • Refrigeration lines

  • Ability to work from project plans, specifications, and electronic documents.

  • Strong understanding of insulation materials and installation techniques.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and willing to learn.

  • Commitment to quality workmanship, integrity, and job-site safety.

  • Ability to navigate drawings, documents, and software using an electronic tablet is a plus.

Requirements
  • Commercial mechanical insulation experience preferred.

  • Required hand tools for the trade.

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred (company can provide certification if needed).

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and safely handle heavier materials with team assistance.

  • Ability to work on ladders, elevated platforms, in confined spaces, and at heights.
