Job description

Position Overview:

The Project Delivery Engineer will support the technical execution and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from early-stage engineering through construction, commissioning, and as-builts. This role is responsible for owner-side technical oversight, cross-disciplinary engineering coordination, engineering risk evaluation, and enforcement of MN8 engineering standards during project development and execution.

This position requires strong engineering fundamentals, independent technical judgment, and the ability to identify gaps, risks, and inconsistencies within third-party engineering and EPC deliverables. The ideal candidate is technically rigorous, detail-oriented, and capable of working across Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Communications disciplines in a fast-paced and collaborative project environment.

As the Project Delivery Engineer, you will:

  • Review of 30%, 90%, As-built/IFC engineering drawings packages including Electrical, Civil, Structural and Communications.
  • Reviewing technical documentation (EPC Contract, equipment specifications, warranties, electrical and thermal studies, etc.) during due diligence and construction stage.
  • Review critical project documentation including Geotech, ESA, Wetlands report and Interconnection Agreements, System Impact studies, hydrology report and corrosion reports during project engineering cycle.
  • Review and conduct Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing).
  • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis.
  • Review and design optimized Solar PV system including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for rooftop, carport, and ground mount (fixed tilt and single-axis tracking) systems.
  • Direct and regularly interact with third party engineering provider /Owner's Engineer or EPC and supervise the work from such resources in the development of IFC drawing sets.
  • Review Energy estimate modeling reports from PVSYST and identify discrepancies.
  • Support technical RFI and Changer Order requests by doing technical evaluation.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors on all technical matters related to the key equipment for a given project.
  • Support commissioning of new built sites.
  • Be the leader in enforcing installation quality and M N 8 standards building practices for new installs.
  • Gather technical lessons learned from DD, PE and AM interaction and update/improve MN8 Design Standards from time to time.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key equipment suppliers as well as regularly evaluate their product pipeline.
  • Identify and evaluate technical enhancement opportunities working in conjunction with Asset Management, Technical Operations and other MN8 teams.
  • Support Project Management Office (PMO) team in the development and improvement of technical related processes.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years of experience in Solar Engineering with excellent understanding of solar project technical characteristics specially in Utility scale projects desired.
  • Engineering BSc Degree required; Masters preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents.
  • Working knowledge of key renewable energy document types: project agreements and permits.
  • Proficient in: AutoCAD, PVsyst, PlantPredict, Helioscope, Excel, Word, Smartsheet.
  • Very organized and able to multitask effectively.
  • Good communicator both written and verbal skill.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and determination to complete difficult projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work both on a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
