Employment Type: Full-Time
Base Compensation: $20-$25/hr ($41,600-$52,000 annually)
Max Annual Compensation (with incentives): $60,000+
POSITION OVERVIEW
Servist Energy doesn't just hire technicians - we develop industry leaders. As a Level 1 Apprentice Technician, you'll receive comprehensive, multi-format training: hands-on field instruction, structured coursework, direct mentorship from industry veterans, and enrollment in a USDOL-registered electrical apprenticeship program. You'll gain real-world exposure to solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure from day one. This is not just a job - it's the launchpad for a high-growth, high-impact career in the energy industry.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Support & Site Readiness
  • Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs on solar PV, BESS, and EV charging systems
  • Support job site setup, tool staging, and materials preparation prior to field execution
  • Transport equipment and supplies as directed; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Assist senior technicians in data collection, documentation, and system reporting

Electrical Testing & Fundamentals
  • Assist in conducting voltage, current, resistance, and insulation resistance testing using multimeters and clamp meters
  • Support string readings (Voc/Isc) for solar PV systems and breaker verification under supervision
  • Learn the fundamentals of ground fault and arc fault detection
  • Assist with IR thermal imaging for equipment performance evaluations
  • Begin developing familiarity with plan sets, schematics, and OEM manuals

System Familiarization
  • Identify main components and differentiate between similar equipment across PV, BESS, and EV platforms
  • Gain exposure to inverter systems, battery management systems (BMS), and EV charger diagnostics
  • Become familiar with system data and communication protocols including RS-485, Modbus, and TCP/IP
  • Learn system voltages (AC and DC) and identify system and component operating states

Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and NEC requirements at all times
  • Participate in arc flash risk mitigation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety training
  • Complete PPE selection, inspection, and proper usage training for energized work environments
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and learn stop-work authority procedures
  • Serve as Safety Second where qualified, ensuring two-person presence on required tasks
  • Identify ESS-specific hazards and recognize fire suppression and detection systems

Documentation & Communication
  • Assist with service reports, work orders, and system logs with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Provide clear field updates to supervisors and senior technicians
  • Record performance metrics, test results, and corrective actions for service tracking

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a USDOL-registered electrical apprenticeship program (required within 90 days)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments
  • Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and lift up to 75 lbs

REQUIRED TRAINING - FIRST 90 DAYS
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training (must be completed before or within the first week)
  • NFPA 70E Basic Electrical Safety Training (within first 30 days)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (within first 60 days)
  • Enrollment in Servist Energy's USDOL-registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program (within 90 days)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic experience in electrical work, construction, or field service
  • Familiarity with solar PV, battery storage, or EV charging systems
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • NABCEP PV Associate Certification (or in progress)
  • Basic knowledge of conduit bending, wiring techniques, or power tools
  • Military experience in electrical, engineering, or technical roles
  • Forklift and/or aerial lift certification (or willingness to obtain)

PATH TO PROMOTION - LEVEL 1 → NEXT LEVEL
  • Performs basic field tasks independently and consistently without supervision
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of system components, safety procedures, and LOTO
  • Designated as Authorized Person for LOTO procedures
  • Accurately describes troubleshooting sequences and documents basic electrical and mechanical issues
  • Completes documentation in a timely and organized manner
  • Shows reliability, initiative, and consistent professional growth

COMPENSATION & CAREER PATH
  • Level 1: $20-$25/hr ◀ Current Level
  • Level 2: $25-$30/hr
  • Level 3: $30-$35/hr
  • Level 4: $35-$45/hr
  • Level 5: $45-$65/hr+
