Generac is hiring an Electrical Engineer (Level II) to support design and manufacturing of power converter products and solar energy storage and management solutions. This is a hands-on role, and success will be achieved in the lab. If you excel in that area and enjoy it, please consider applying.
Role can be located in either our N. Billerica MA office or S. Portland ME office with reasonable travel in between. Salary range varies by location.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and development of next generation DC/DC and DC/AC power converters for residential PV and battery energy storage applications
  • Plan and implement design validation for prototypes and first articles. Document test results and communicate to stakeholders within the design team and cross-functionally
  • Perform and support analyses to verify design requirements, including circuit simulation, DFMEA, and reliability assessments for design margin and component deratings
  • Participate in, and at times, lead design reviews of new designs and revisions, including for DFM and DFT
  • Travel to other Generac and key supplier/partner facilities as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2 years of work experience

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with power electronics/power converters
  • Experience with schematic capture and/or PCB design
  • Familiarity with test equipment typically used for power converter development such as high-performance oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, etc.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, design and test complex electronic circuits
  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools
  • Familiarity with third party certification and testing (e.g. NRTL, environmental)
  • Team player and works proactively with others to achieve shared goals

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel, including internationally.
