Job description

Sol Systems is seeking a Utility Scale Development Associate to support development team. This individual will support early- to late-stage project development efforts. The Development Associate will work alongside a Senior Development Director to manage a project team including a real estate manager, permitting manager, engineering, preconstruction, and project finance to execute solar projects through development to construction notice-to-proceed. This position is expected to be a source of project management and development knowledge.

The Associate will be responsible for:
  • Manage multiple early-, mid- and late-stage projects (all activities required to bring a project to NTP and financial close/sale, including securing sites, perfecting real estate, environmental and local permitting, and related site studies, negotiating tax abatements, community engagement, and evaluating and coordinating interconnection activities)
  • Manage third-party and internal project development teams to achieve the development activities above.
  • Collaborate with the Sol Systems technical, engineering, finance and asset management teams with respect to the development activities above.
  • Collaborate across these teams to evaluate project development risks and project valuation assumptions.
  • Manage project's schedule, budget, and inputs to the financial model. Understand and report to executes changes in project financials as development proceeds.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Familiarity with MS Project or equivalent such as Smartsheet as well as budgeting in MS Excel or other programs. Familiarity with Smartsheet, Green IT or Salesforce a plus
  • 1-2 years of experience in project management or land development.
  • Utility-scale solar project development experience is a plus.
  • Willing to travel as needed to support development activities.

Location & Hours: This is a full-time hybrid role and will be based in our Washington, DC office.
Commitment & Compensation: The base salary for this role is between $80,000 and $110,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
