We are seeking a Software Engineer to join Zions Bancorporation supporting our retail card payments business line. The Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in developing innovative software solutions that empower our customers and drive organizational success. This position guides testing and configuration management processes, manages source code and change processes, and collaborates with partners to deliver top-tier software products aligned with strategic goals. The Software Engineer will support and maintain various systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, and develop solutions through comprehensive requirements analysis and stakeholder collaboration. This role is crucial in reviewing, analyzing, and improving business processes, leveraging both out-of-the-box and custom development approaches to enhance the user experience and achieve product goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative software solutions to empower customers and support organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with partners, stakeholders, and IT management to deliver high-quality software products.
  • Design, debug, test, and deploy effective software solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Leverage modern API design principles to build clean, well-documented, and performant APIs, ensuring smooth interoperability between front-end interfaces, legacy core systems, and cloud-native applications.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business processes, recommending improvements and changes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development, database technologies, version control systems, DevOps tools, cloud computing platforms, and microservices architecture, or other directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of software development processes, procedures, cloud enablement, and modern programming languages
  • Proficiency in SQL, Java Programming, and API development
  • Working knowledge of software design, integration, and high-performance software development with strong debugging, problem-solving, and testing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, both verbal and written, with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, validate, and map business requirements to appropriate solutions.

Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus is the company's primary technology and operations center.
