Job description

Senior Construction Superintendent

Federal Energy & Solar Infrastructure

Pasadena, CA

$135,000โ€“$170,000 Base Salary + Vehicle + Comprehensive Benefits

The Opportunity

A well-established and highly respected construction company is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for a major energy infrastructure project in Southern California.

This is a newly created, high-impact, permanent position supporting a large-scale and complex solar and electrical infrastructure project. The Senior Superintendent will serve as the primary field leader on-site and will be responsible for day-to-day construction execution, subcontractor coordination, safety, quality, scheduling, logistics, and overall site productivity.

The initial project assignment is expected to run for 12โ€“14+ months. This is not a contract or project-only position - the company is seeking a long-term addition to its team, with continued employment and opportunities to support future solar and energy infrastructure projects following the completion of the initial assignment.

The company has been in business for more than 35 years and has built a strong reputation for quality, stability, and employee retention. Many members of the team have spent decades with the organization.

This is an opportunity to join an established company while helping support continued growth within its energy and infrastructure business.

What You'll Do

As the Senior Construction Superintendent, you will take ownership of day-to-day field execution for a large, complex construction project.

Field Leadership & Construction Execution

  • Lead all daily field operations at the project site.
  • Serve as the senior on-site construction representative.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead daily subcontractor coordination and safety meetings.
  • Manage field productivity and monitor project progress.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements.
  • Resolve field conflicts and coordinate solutions with project management and design teams.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, punch list activities, and project closeout.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion a strong, safety-first culture.
  • Enforce OSHA and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct field safety observations and audits.
  • Coordinate with corporate safety leadership.
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and deficiency correction.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Execute field activities in alignment with the project schedule.
  • Develop and manage short-term look-ahead schedules.
  • Identify schedule risks and assist with recovery planning.
  • Monitor critical construction activities and milestones.
  • Coordinate deliveries, equipment, laydown areas, temporary facilities, and site access.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports covering manpower, production, equipment, deliveries, weather impacts, inspections, and project issues.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with project owners, general contractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in progress and coordination meetings.
  • Maintain strong and professional relationships with all parties involved in the project.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a seasoned field leader with a strong background in solar, electrical infrastructure, energy construction, and/or complex commercial construction.

Preferred Experience

  • Significant experience as a Construction Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, Construction Manager, or similar field leadership role.
  • Experience leading complex solar, electrical, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and construction trades.
  • Experience managing large and complex project sites.
  • Solar construction experience, including ground-mount and/or solar carport projects, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, medium-voltage systems, or electrical equipment installation.
  • Experience with commissioning and project closeout.
  • Federal, government, or highly regulated construction experience is strongly preferred.

Candidates do not need to check every box. Strong construction leaders with highly relevant solar, electrical, or energy infrastructure experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 required.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent construction and field leadership experience will be strongly considered.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and field execution.
  • Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and digital plan management tools is preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to satisfy project-specific background, access, and security requirements.

Bilingual Communication

Spanish-speaking or bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. The ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking field personnel is highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $135,000โ€“$170,000

Compensation will be based on experience and overall qualifications.

The company offers a comprehensive package, including:

  • Company-paid medical benefits
  • Dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Company truck
  • Company-paid fuel
  • Company credit card for approved business expenses
  • Hotel and approved travel expenses covered by the company
  • $65/day per diem when applicable
  • Paid vacation/PTO
  • Sick time
  • Paid holidays
  • Discretionary year-end bonus opportunities

Location & Schedule: Pasadena, CA

This is a full-time, permanent, on-site position. The Senior Superintendent will be expected to work at the project site five days per week.

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekends generally off unless required by project needs.

The initial project assignment is expected to last approximately 12โ€“14+ months. Following completion of the project, the Superintendent will continue with the company and support future projects as part of the organization's long-term growth in solar and energy infrastructure.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity for an experienced construction leader to take ownership of a significant project while joining an established organization with a strong foundation and long-term growth plans.

The company is looking for someone who wants more than just the next projectโ€”they are seeking a long-term field leader who can contribute to the continued growth of their solar and energy infrastructure capabilities.

If you have a background leading solar, electrical infrastructure, energy projects, or complex commercial construction, we'd like to speak with you.
