Role Summary

As a Lead Electrician on the Residential team, you will play a critical role in our solar operations. Your responsibilities will include installing and commissioning new solar installations, electrical service equipment, wiring, troubleshooting system issues, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes, and maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation of electrical service equipment, wiring, and devices required for residential solar PV systems

  • Install electrical components including solar modules, inverters, main service panels, load centers, disconnects, junction boxes, combiner boxes, and monitoring equipment

  • Wire and integrate battery storage systems, electrical upgrades, and EV chargers, ensuring full compliance with system requirements and interconnection standards

  • Interpret and implement electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and site plans to guide precise system installations

  • Conduct electrical testing including voltage verification, continuity checks, system performance analysis, and basic commissioning

  • Ensure all electrical work meets company specifications, quality standards, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and local jurisdictional requirements

  • Manage on-site material organization, equipment readiness, and ensure job sites are clean, safe, and properly staged for work

  • Maintain detailed records of installation progress, including photos, reports, and system documentation

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, operations teams, and homeowners regarding project status and expectations

  • Support installation teams, provide mentorship to junior electricians, and maintain a culture of safety, efficiency, and professionalism

  • Uphold all company policies and lead by example in following safety regulations and protocols

  • Keep company vehicles well-maintained, fully stocked, and properly serviced

  • Follow all safety regulations and policies to ensure a safe working environment

  • Adhere to all of Luminaโ€™s company policies and ensure that all safety protocols are followed

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall project success


Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License

  • Must have at least 2 years of recent residential electrical experience; solar experience is a plus

  • Must possess an active Masterโ€™s or Journeyman license

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, both AC and DC, including troubleshooting, wiring, and assembly

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical installation projects

  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical line drawings

  • Ability to read building plans and equipment manuals

  • Proficiency in safely handling power and hand tools, as well as materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, lumber, and roofing materials

  • Capability to climb ladders, work on sloped roofs in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods

  • Experience and comfort working in attics and confined spaces

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly

  • Must be proficient in the use of smartphones and tablets, utilizing them effectively for communication, accessing job-related apps and software, documenting work progress, and staying connected with team members and supervisors as required

  • Proven track record of reliable attendance

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job

  • Position requires passing a drug screening and background check
