AES Clean Energy is a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, with additional offices throughout the world. The AES Clean Energy Field Services Operations team is looking for a Solar Technician with troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have the ability to take direct instruction from Senior Technicians, and demonstrate the ability to lead, train and teach other Tech I's, and Apprentices. As AES Clean Energy grows to become one of the leading IPPs in the industry, this role will provide an unparalleled opportunity for professional growth. The position will be based on Kauai with regular inter-island travel to attend to the sites' needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

o Based out of your home, travel to distributed and utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities in local region to perform preventative & corrective maintenance

o Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility

o Coordinate and manage contractors engaged to support maintenance activities

o Provide limited support for commissioning activities

o Lead/support warranty claims processes with vendors as needed.

o Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.

o Perform work independently and in team environments

Desired Skills, Expertise and Competencies:

o Proven experience with a variety of electrical equipment and knowledge of basic IT and remote communications equipment

o Experience with Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS), a plus.

o Ability to prioritize and plan preventative & corrective maintenance on solar and battery storage equipment

o Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place

o Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional and geographically diverse organization

o Maturity, professionalism, and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing

o Self-starter, developed interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic

o Detail oriented with an ability to adapt to new challenges and summarize information to support key decision makers

Education / Experience:

o Technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications a plus

o Minimum two (2) years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician or

o Three (3) or more years' experience in a power plant

o Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and electrical theory application

o Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities

Working Conditions:

o Working outside and from home

o Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high/low humidity areas

o Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment

o Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)

o May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals

o Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities

o Performs other duties as assigned

o Willingness to work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
