What is software testing?

Software testing is the process of evaluating and verifying that a software program or application does what it is intended to do. The main objective is to identify bugs, errors, or missing requirements compared to the actual requirements. It can be performed manually or automated using various tools and frameworks. Software testing helps ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software before it is released to users.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a software tester?

To thrive as a Software Tester, you need a solid understanding of software development life cycles, test design, and bug tracking, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with testing tools like Selenium, JIRA, and knowledge of test automation frameworks or ISTQB certification is commonly required. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help testers collaborate and report findings effectively. These skills ensure software quality, reduce defects, and facilitate smooth product releases.

What are some common challenges faced by software testers when working in agile development teams?

Software testers in agile teams often navigate rapid development cycles, requiring them to adapt quickly to changing requirements and tight deadlines. One key challenge is ensuring comprehensive test coverage despite limited time for test planning and execution. Additionally, testers must collaborate closely with developers and product owners to clarify acceptance criteria and prioritize testing efforts effectively. Strong communication and flexibility are essential to keep up with continuous integration and frequent releases.

What is the difference between Software Testing vs QA Analyst?

We partner with innovative, people-first organizations that value collaboration, flexibility, and engineering excellence.

Our Client

A specialized software engineering company that develops safety-critical solutions for the aerospace and automotive industries. Their work focuses on ensuring the reliability, compliance, and quality of embedded software used in environments where precision and safety are essential. About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Software Verification Engineer to help develop and validate software for safety-critical embedded systems used in aviation and automotive applications.

Unlike traditional QA roles, this position focuses on engineering automated verification solutions rather than manually executing test plans. You'll design test cases, author technical documentation, perform code reviews, and generate the verification evidence required to meet internationally recognized functional safety standards.

You'll collaborate with highly technical engineering teams while contributing to software that powers mission-critical systems where reliability is non-negotiable.

Location & Work Model
  • 100% remote from anywhere in Latin America.
  • Flexible work environment with distributed engineering teams.
  • Long-term opportunity with an international client.
Responsibilities
  • Develop high-level and low-level test cases for safety-critical graphics driver software.
  • Author and review High-Level Requirements (HLRs) and Low-Level Requirements (LLRs).
  • Ensure compliance with DO-178C verification processes and applicable engineering checklists.
  • Produce clear, structured technical documentation in English.
  • Perform unit testing using RTRT and proprietary C/C++ testing tools.
  • Execute automated test procedures and document verification results.
  • Participate in customer stand‑ups, technical discussions, and project reviews.
  • Conduct source code reviews following established coding standards and requirement baselines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in C programming.
  • Experience with software verification, code reviews, and unit testing.
  • Hands‑on experience writing and executing test procedures and test scripts.
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as DO-178C and/or ISO 26262.
  • Experience with requirements and defect management tools such as CodeBeamer and Jira.
  • Proficiency with Git and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies.
  • Experience with RTRT or LDRA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OpenGL or willingness to learn; Vulkan experience is a plus.
  • Upper-Intermediate English or higher.
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive USD-based compensation.
  • 100% remote work from anywhere in LATAM.
  • Work on software that powers safety-critical aerospace and automotive systems.
  • Join a highly specialized engineering team solving complex technical challenges.
  • Long‑term opportunity with professional growth and exposure to internationally recognized engineering standards.
  • Collaborative engineering culture focused on quality, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
