Job description

Summary

The SAP Implementation Consultant is an individual contributor role responsible for delivering high quality implementation projects and integration services for Wolters Kluwer Corporate Tax solutions across a variety of ERP, billing, eCommerce, and business applications. While SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA experience is a core requirement and primary area of focus, the role also supports other platforms and technologies based on customer needs and project requirements.

This position partners with customers to define indirect tax requirements, configure CCH SureTax and related business systems, and implement integrations that support compliant and efficient tax determination processes. The consultant serves as a functional and technical advisor throughout the implementation lifecycle, collaborating with customers, partners, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery and long-term customer success. Additional responsibilities include serving as liaison between clients, partners, internal departments and development/technology teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead customer implementation projects for CCH SureTax across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and other ERP, billing, eCommerce, and business application environments.
  • Partner with customers, implementation partners, and internal stakeholders to assess business and indirect tax requirements, design solutions, and define implementation strategies.
  • Develop tax requirements and functional design documentation, configure tax and business rules, support integration requirements, and oversee solution validation through testing and acceptance activities.
  • Serve as a functional and technical advisor throughout the implementation lifecycle, including process design, gap analysis, training, user testing, change management, and operational readiness planning.
  • Provide expertise in indirect tax processes and regulatory considerations across a variety of industries, including retail, software, manufacturing, telecommunications, construction, and related sectors.
  • Deliver customer presentations, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring stakeholders understand solution capabilities, business processes, and operational impacts.
  • Collaborate with integration, development, and implementation partners to support the successful deployment of tax solutions within third-party business applications.
  • Support customer testing efforts and troubleshoot complex business and system requirements to ensure solutions align with operational and tax compliance objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing recommendations on indirect tax processes, system architecture, integration approaches, and implementation best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective software training and knowledge transfer to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Provide Tier 2 support and escalation assistance for complex implementation and integration issues in coordination with the Customer Support organization.
  • Partner with Product Management, Product Development, Professional Services, and Customer Support teams to improve products, services, implementation methodologies, and customer outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of implementation standards, documentation, best practices, new service offerings, and team mentoring initiatives.
  • Support pre-sales activities, including solution discussions, discovery efforts, demonstrations, and implementation planning in partnership with Sales and Solution Architects.
  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support during critical project milestones, deployments, or customer escalations.

  • Maintain current knowledge of indirect tax regulations, ERP technologies, and industry trends through continuous professional development.
  • Effectively manage project responsibilities, utilization, revenue objectives, and company resources while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction and delivery excellence.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • CPA preferred
  • SAP certification a plus

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience implementing indirect tax solutions within SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
  • Experience implementing and integrating indirect tax solutions such as CCH SureTax, Vertex, Avalara, Thomson Reuters, or similar tax technologies.
  • Consulting experience supporting enterprise software implementations, including requirements gathering, solution design, data migration, data conversion, testing, training, and deployment activities.
  • Experience implementing and integrating enterprise business applications, including ERP, billing, eCommerce, and related systems.
  • Working knowledge of additional ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations and Business Central), NetSuite, Acumatica, or similar enterprise applications.
  • Experience with cloud-based software solutions, APIs, web services, and integration technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure software solutions and deliver effective end-user and administrator training.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, including requirements, architecture, design, testing, deployment, and system integration.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client projects and priorities, coordinate project activities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, collaborative, matrixed environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives, manage change, and recommend practical solutions.

Compensation:

$107,500.00 - $188,400.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position.
